Dan the Doodler

I've been doodlin' for as long as I can remember.

I can't recall a time when I wasn't doodlin' or drawing on something. As a preschooler, my brother Dave and I would entertain each other by scrawling on rolls of butcher wrap... stretched across our grandparent's kitchen floor... drawing funny pictures to make each other laugh. I graduated from butcher wrap to sketchbooks in middle school--after discovering Mad Magazine.

My grades suffered but my love for doodlin', cartooning, and caricature only grew.

I continued doodlin' through school, into college, and eventually into the world of newspapers--where I landed my dream job in 1989 as the editorial cartoonist for the Dallas Times Herald. But the advent of the internet put an end to that dream and newspapers became a footnote in history.

I went in search of new places to doodle and worked for years doing cartoon illustrations for Frito Lay, Family Christian Stores, Chariot Victor Publishing, and a slew of other great companies. In 2010, I moved to Colorado and joined the staff at Flatirons Community Church where I recently retired after 14 years as Men's Pastor and Campus Pastor at their Longmont campus...

But I never quit doodlin'. When I'm not at the drawing board, I'm working on my new project Doodlin with Dan (doodlinwithdan.com) or enjoying time with my wife, Amy, our kids, and our 6 grandkids--loving the beauty of Colorado
